Sky City
West of Albuquerque, New Mexico
Sky City, built on an isolated 365-foot-tall mesa, is perhaps the most famous part of Acoma Pueblo. It claims to be the oldest continuously inhabited community in the United States (a claim that Taos Pueblo would dispute). The environs were inhabited as early as 1150 A.D., but the actual occupation of the mesa was probably not until about one hundred years later.
